                Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a great holiday season and all the best for the New Year. It's hard to believe, but with the beginning of the New Year, we are half way through the curling season. The ice crew has been busy with the mid season revamp, and based on the first few games, they have it running fast. Be sure to thank the ice makers as they learn the nuances with the new equipment. They have done a great job so far! Thanks

New Years Party

A big "Thank You" to Madelene Reed and Brenda Catt for all their work organizing a great New Years Eve party! Thank You to Dawn Rigby (table covers/centre pieces) and Gary (DJ Sparky) Wellon for their help as well. We would also like to thank Grace Szydlowski and Yvon Garneau for their generous donations for door prizes. All those attending enjoyed a great meal, dancing, door prizes and champagne to ring in the New Year! Mark your calendars now for next year's party!

50/50 Draw

We have had a few questions on how the 50/50 draw works, so here are a few key points:

"Draws are made every Monday for the previous week - Payment/sign in Monday to Sunday

"Last draw will be made on Monday, March 31st

"When someone did not pay/sign in, the missed winnings remain in the pot for the next week

"This is an honour system - please remember to pay when you sign in. There have been a couple of times when dollars collected are less than people signed in

We are offering a pre-payment option, but only for a short period of time. If you would like to pay for the remainder of the year (11 draws including w/o Jan. 14th), give your cheque or cash to the bartender, and they will record your payment. The prepayment window is only two weeks, with full payment due (no partial pre-payment). If prepaying w/o Jan. 14th - $22, Pre payment for w/o Jan. 21st - $20. Good Luck!

Upcoming in club events:

"Sobey's Spiel - February 02nd - sign up sheet to be posted shortly

"Curl for Heart - February 16th - new - see sign-up sheet by bar

Sign up as a team or as a single. See Gary Wellon for more details

There is still lots of opportunity for you to get your volunteer hours in - please check the volunteer board and help out wherever you can. We are looking for help with the Sobey's spiel - organizing and running. Please see Gary Wellon or Dave Rigby if you can help out.

Great Curling!

Dave
